BRS MLC K Kavitha, along with party leaders, staging a protest in front of Telangana Legislative Council on Saturday.
Hyderabad: BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha has urged the government to provide a minimum support price (MSP) of Rs 15,000 per quintal for turmeric farmers. She, along with other BRS MLCs, staged a protest with placards in front of the Telangana Legislative Council on Saturday highlighting the plight of turmeric farmers.
Kavitha expressed concern over the prolonged struggles faced by turmeric farmers. She criticised both the Centre and the State government for failing to take decisive action on the issue.
She emphasised that turmeric farmers in Telangana were enduring severe hardships due to the lack of an adequate MSP. She also accused the Congress party of betraying turmeric farmers, pointing out that while the party had included promises for farmers in its election manifesto, it failed to deliver on them.
Kavitha reiterated her demand for an MSP hat made turmeric farming remunerative, stressing the urgent need for government intervention to support the farming community.
