Hyderabad: BRS MLC K Kavitha found fault with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and the Congress government for adopting anti-farmer policies and imposing restrictions on the implementation of the Rythu Bharosa financial support scheme. She slammed them for betraying farmers with bureaucratic hurdles and demanded that the scheme should be extended to all farmers unconditionally.

She was addressing the party leaders and activists from the Bodhan constituency at her residence here on Thursday. She called out the government’s lack of action on loan waivers and described the new conditions for the Rythu Bharosa scheme as another example of their deceitful policies.

Expressing her anger, Kavitha questioned whether farmers, who toil to feed the nation, should beg for their rightful support. She criticised the government for seeking fresh applications for the scheme, likening it to the already cumbersome process under Praja Palana applications, whose status remains unclear. “How many more applications must farmers submit to access the benefits they were promised?” she asked.

The BRS MLC dubbed the Congress government’s requirements as cruel and humiliating, aiming to avoid providing financial support to farmers. She contrasted this with the policies of the previous BRS government under K Chandrashekhar Rao, which she said safeguarded farmers and their livelihoods.

Kavitha also criticised the Congress for failing to fulfill its election promises, including monthly financial aid of Rs.2,500 to women, scooters to 18-year-old women, and implementing the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme effectively. Within just a year of governance, she said the Congress was facing massive opposition from the public due to its inability to deliver on key promises.

She urged BRS activists to expose the failures of the Congress government, raise public issues, and remind citizens of the schemes implemented under the K Chandrashekhar Rao government, ahead of the local body elections. She exuded confidence that the BRS flag would fly high once again. Declaring that the BRS flag would once again fly high, Kavitha stated that the party would stand united to challenge the Congress regime, which she accused of failing Telangana’s farmers and other vulnerable communities.
