Hyderabad: Legislative Council member K Kavitha’s initiative to help a pregnant woman, who was facing severe complications and at the same time, difficult to meet medical expenses, has seen the woman deliver a healthy baby boy, apart from inspiring the woman’s husband to offer free cab rides to pregnant woman.
It was on May 22 that Kavitha responded to an SOS request on Twitter and took up the case of 23-year-old Jyothi, who was nearing her delivery. Her husband Raju Naik, a cab driver from Kosgi was also finding it difficult to meet medical expenditures and had launched a crowd-funding campaign to pay the delivery expenses.
Kavitha, on hearing their story and the crowd funding campaign, immediately reached out to the family and personally looked into the case of Jyothi. Given her delivery complications, Kavitha moved her to a private hospital and decided to bear all the medical expenses to ensure that both Jyothi and the baby were safe especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. On Monday, Jyothi gave birth to a baby boy, with both mother and son doing well.
Jyothi and Raju Naik will soon be returning home with their newborn. The family from Kosgi is overwhelmed with the help from the MLC, with Naik declaring that he would from now offer cab rides to pregnant women.
Praying for well being and good health of both the mother and the child. God bless !! https://t.co/KcH0XarAgk
