Hyderabad: Taking a dig at the State BJP leaders over their love for former Prime Minister late P V Narasimha Rao, MLC K Kavitha asked them to prove their integrity and commitment by conferring Bharat Ratna posthumously on the former Prime Minister. She wondered why the BJP leaders are silent and not celebrating the legacy of Narasimha Rao during his birth centenary year.
Speaking to mediapersons in the course of GHMC election campaign in Gandhinagar on Thursday, Kavitha took on BJP State president Bandi Sanjay for enacting a new political stunt revolving around Gnana Bhoomi, Narasimha Rao’s memorial. “Despite the long-standing demand from Telugu people, the BJP government at the Centre has not conferred Bharat Ratna on Narasimha Rao and former Chief Minister N T Rama Rao. What stops them (BJP) from conferring the highest civilian award on these two Telugu giants?” she questioned.
The MLC also questioned Union Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy over the Centre not responding to the State’s request for release of financial relief for flood victims. She said the Union Home Ministry released immediate financial assistance of Rs 4,700 crore to six flood-hit States even before they submitted their respective damage estimates, but ignored Telangana State.
Kavitha said the BJP never speaks on issues that contribute to the overall development of society like falling GDP and others, but only uses the religion card to rake up emotions and gain political mileage. She urged the people of Greater Hyderabad not to fall prey to such political stunts of national parties and appealed to them to vote for development and TRS.
She also met with representatives of RTC Union, advocates, Vaishya and Yadava community who extended their support to TRS in the December 1 GHMC elections.
