KCR extends Bathukamma greetings to people of Telangana
In a statement, Chandrashekhar Rao observed that the Bathukamma festival has been identified as a symbol of women's unity for several generation in Telangana.

Hyderabad: BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao extended his greetings to the people of Telangana, especially women, on the occasion of the commencement of the Bathukamma festival from Tuesday. He said the Bathukamma festival, known for worshiping flowers as a goddess, has evolved into a symbol of Telangana’s unique cultural identity and self-respect.
In a statement, Chandrashekhar Rao observed that the Bathukamma festival has been identified as a symbol of women’s unity for several generation in Telangana. He said the festival played a key role as Telangana’s cultural symbol to the world during the separate statehood movement. He said the entire State would come alive during the festive celebrations, with commencement of “Yengili Poola” Bathukamma to the concluding day of Saddula Bathukamma. He lauded the festival for showcasing the richness of Telangana’s culture and traditions, closely connected with nature.
Chandrashekhar Rao reminded that the previous BRS government had celebrated the Bathukamma festival as a State festival, to preserve Telangana’s cultural heritage. Similarly, the previous BRS government also presented Bathukamma sarees to all women aged above 18 years as festival gift. He offered prayers to Mother Nature, seeking her blessings to fill the lives of Telangana’s people with greater joy and happiness during the nine-day festivities.
