Hyderabad: BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Telangana on the occasion of Dasara, a festival that embodies the triumph of good over evil. He wished that the festival would illuminate the lives of citizens, guiding them toward success in their noble aspirations.

In his message, Chandrashekhar Rao reflected on the significance of Vijaya Dashami or Dasara, stating that it serves as a reminder for individuals to confront and conquer the evil within themselves, ultimately striving toward righteousness. He said traditional practices such as visiting the Indian Roller (Pala Pitta), worshipping the Shami tree, and presenting leaves to elders before taking their blessings, indicate the cultural richness of Dasara.

“The Dasara festival holds a unique place in the hearts of the Telangana people,” the former Chief Minister remarked, underscoring the importance of social harmony fostered during the festivities. He noted the tradition of Alai-Balai, which encourages sharing and mutual affection among communities. He pointed out the significance of worshiping tools and vehicles through Ayudu Puja, reflecting the deep-rooted cultural values associated with the festival.

Chandrashekhar Rao also recalled the efforts made by the previous BRS government to promote the cultural significance of Dasara, including the recognition of the Indian Roller as the State bird and the Shami tree as the State tree. These initiatives, he noted, aimed to preserve and celebrate the unique heritage of Telangana.
