Karimnagar: Deputy Transport Commissioner Mamindla Chandrashekhar Goud named Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao as a modern day Ashoka. The Chief Minister launched the Haritha Haram programme to increase forest cover to 33 per cent from 24 per cent, he said.
As part of the seventh phase of the Haritha Haram programme, DTC along with his staff, planted saplings at the district transport office here on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, Chandrashekhar Goud said it was the responsibility of every citizen to plant trees to protect the environment. Besides plantation, protection of trees was also important. It is possible to protect the environment with the plantation of saplings, he said.
Rajya Sabha MP Joginapally Santhosh Kumar was striving hard in this direction by launching the green challenge, he said and hoped that Haritha Haram programme would continue with similar spirit. MVIs Gous Baba, Nagalaxmi, Rajani, and Pradeep Kumar, Administrative Officer Guru Prasad and other staff participated in the programme.
CM invited me to join TRS: Ramana
Hyderabad: Telangana Telugu Desam party president L Ramana on Thursday said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has invited him to join the TRS on Thursday.
Accompanied by Panchayat Raj Minister E. Dayakar Rao, Ramana met the Chief Minister at Pragathi Bhavan here. “We discussed various issues and political developments after formation of Telangana State. The Chief Minister said he was striving for development of Telangana society and towards this, he invited me to join TRS,” Ramana said, addressing media persons after the meeting.
