Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president K. Chandrashekhar Rao on Saturday remembered freedom fighter and Telangana movement leader Konda Laxman Bapuji on his birth anniversary, describing his inspiration and sacrifices for the statehood cause as unforgettable. In a statement, he hailed Bapuji as a true Gandhian and the first-generation crusader for Telangana’s self-respect.
He paid rich tributes, recalling the deep personal bond he shared with the veteran leader. Emphasizing the need to preserve Bapuji’s legacy for future generations, he noted that the previous BRS government had established the Telangana State Horticulture University in his honour.
Additionally, it institutionalized the tradition of officially observing his birth and death anniversaries as a mark of respect. Drawing inspiration from Bapuji’s lifelong dedication to the upliftment of the poor and weaker sections, the BRS regime had launched several welfare initiatives during its tenure, he pointed out.
“Continuing these efforts with commitment, particularly for the advancement of backward classes, is the greatest homage we can pay to him,” he added.
