Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao paid tributes to Jnanpith Award recipient Dr C Narayana Reddy on his birth anniversary on Wednesday and recalled his services to literature and people of the two Telugu States. He said as a poet and lyricist, Cinare continued many literary forms and enriched Telugu literature. Respecting the Urdu literary traditions in Telangana, Cinare penned ghazals in Telugu and made the Telangana literature a symbol of Ganga Jamuni Tehzeeb.
In a statement, the Chief Minister said Narayana Reddy rendered invaluable service to Telugu literature as the vice-chancellor of different universities and also as Rajya Sabha member. He remembered that as son of erstwhile Karimnagar district, Narayana Reddy had spread Telugu literature across the world as well as popularised Telangana language and literature. He stated that the government has taken steps to build a ‘Cinare Saraswata Sadanam’ in Hyderabad to mark the services of Narayana Reddy to the literary world.
