Hyderabad: BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao will appear before the Justice PC Ghose Commission on June 5.

Former MP B Vinod Kumar confirmed that the Commission’s notice reached Chandrashekhar Rao and the latter was gearing up to provide all information available with him.

“Chandrashekhar Rao is ready to answer any queries that the commission has regarding the Kaleshwaram project. He has nothing to hide and facts will be presented threadbare before the commission,” Vinod Kumar informed reporters on Wednesday.

The commission, set up to probe alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS), recently issued notices to Chandrashekhar Rao along with, former Minister T Harish Rao, and BJP MP Eatala Rajender.

While the Congress government has maintained the inquiry is a step to address allegations of corruption and irregularities, the BRS has termed the move a political conspiracy aimed at tarnishing the reputation of the previous government.

Sources said Chandrashekhar Rao was preparing to counter the allegations by presenting a detailed account of the project’s planning, execution, and benefits, along with historical context dating back to the undivided Andhra Pradesh era. Consultations with legal experts and retired engineers were underway, and the former Chief Minister has already held multiple strategy meetings with Harish Rao, who is scheduled to appear on June 9.

Meanwhile, Vinod Kumar welcomed the constitution of a seven-member committee led by former Central Water Commission chairman AB Pandya. He urged the State government not to delay repair works at the Medigadda barrage.

“Ever since the Congress came to power, the BRS has been asking the government not to wait for the NDSA (National Dam Safety Authority) report for taking up repair works at Medigadda. As the remaining structures are intact, the government should take up the Medigadda barrage repair urgently,” he said.
