Goof-ups with sports winner names seem to have become common now. This time again, KFC India, in a now-deleted tweet, tagged the wrong Priya Malik to send out their congratulations instead of wrestler Priya Malik.
KFC meant to congratulate the wrestler who clinched a gold medal at World Cadet Wrestling Championship being held at Hungary’s Budapest, but mistakenly tagged actor and poet-performer Priya Malik instead.
The poet-performer who realised the goof-up quickly took to Twitter with a hilarious response. “I only wear gold and I’m always hungry @KFC India,” she wrote, mentioning that the food company had tagged the wrong person with the same name.
However, the poet-performer seemed to have a lot of fun roasting KFC as she didn’t stop with one tweet but showed some creative funny side of hers in her following tweets.
In one, she wrote, “Dear Twitter, #Wrestling ke zamaane main, aap poetry waali #PriyaMalik dhoond chuke hain! (In the era of wrestling, you have come upon the poetry)”. The line plays upon her own Hindi performance poetry “2019 Mein 1999”.
In another tweet, Priya declared, “Vaise ghar par jab bhi pati se ladaai hoti hai tab bhi gold main hee jeetti hoon, (Whenever there is a fight with my husband at home, I’m the one who wins gold)”.
However, wrestler Priya Malik, who might be high on her victory, didn’t seem to look into the goof-up. The wrestler, in the final bout of the 73 kg category, defeated Kesniya Patapovich 5-0 to win the title in Budapest.
