Khammam: 1275 applications received for educational certificates in flood-hit areas

Khammam: Additional Collector (local bodies) Dr. P Srija informed that measures were being taken to issue certificates and documents lost in recent Munneru floods to affected residents in the next two to three weeks.
Speaking to the media here on Wednesday she said that during a door to door survey conducted in flood affected areas in the district, 680 applications received for SSC certificates, 454 for intermediate, 94 for degree/B Tech, 47 for post graduate certificates and 29 applications received for passport so far.Similarly, certificates related to the revenue department, 269 applications have been submitted for income certificates, 376 for caste certificates, 189 for residence certificates, 77 for OBC certificates, 88 for pattadar passbooks, 388 for Aadhaar cards and 182 applications for ration cards, she said.
Regarding the education certificates, the details of the student’s name, address and year of passing would be sent to the education department through the district administration for issuing the certificates. Special camps would be set up for issuing revenue related certificates, Dr. Srija said.
Training classes were being conducted for three days a week in 237 government schools across the district to train girls in self-defense. As many as 120 masters have been appointed temporarily for the purpose. English labs have been set up in 50 schools in the district and steps would be taken to expand the labs across the district step by step, the additional Collector noted.
Every Wednesday the district officials were visiting government schools to check the quality of mid-day meals. Parent teacher meetings were being held in government schools every month and the Collector was monitoring the quality of midday meals, attendance of students, she added.
