Khammam: Khammam boys’ team bagged first prize in 69th Telangana Schools State Level Under-17 Boys and Girls Beach Volleyball Competitions held here.
Medak secured the second prize and Nizamabad won the third prize in the boys’ category, while in the girls’ category, Nizamabad won the first prize, Khammam won the second and Hyderabad bagged the third prize, said district School Games Federation (SGF) honorary advisor Devarakonda Saidulu.
Speaking after distributing prizes to the winning teams he stated that the youth would have a bright future with sports. Sports provide mental joy as well as physical strength. Organising State-level beach volleyball competitions in Khammam would help promote the local talent, he added.
Saidulu called on the winning players to show Telangana’s strength at the national level. Sixty players from 10 erstwhile districts of Telangana participated in the competitions. State observer Madhu, SGF district secretary Yasa Rama Rao, assistant secretaries Adarsh, Chinni physical directors Ramu, Nagul Meera, Anjaiah and others were present.
