Khammam: The State government has been providing modern health facilities for expectant mothers at the District Headquarters Hospital in Khammam, said District Collector VP Gautham.
He along with District Medical and Health Officer Dr. B Malathi, Municipal Commissioner Adarsh Surabhi and health workers visited residences of expectant mothers at Ramanagutta area and interacted with them. He enquired about their health status and food they were consuming.
Gautham told them that expert gynaecologists and paediatricians were available at the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Centre at District Hospital to offer quality health services, hence pregnant women should prefer government hospitals for child delivery.
The Collector advised them not to go to private hospitals for child delivery by spending huge amounts of money. He informed that in government hospitals doctors would ensure normal child delivery and take better care of mother and child.
The government was providing KCR Kits along with cash incentives if a woman delivers a child at government hospitals. All pregnant women should make use of such benefits. The hospital authorities also ensure to drop the mother and child at their home after discharge from the hospitals, Gautham explained.
He told ANMs and ASHAs to make regular visits to the houses of pregnant women to offer them required medical services, nutritious food and iron tablets to those suffering from anemia before the child delivery. The health workers should treat pregnant women as their family members, he added.
