Khammam Collector praises women’s contribution in development
Collector said the efficient functioning of women officials helped the district secure top place in the State in terms of implementation of welfare and development works
Khammam: Women officials and staff made a tremendous contribution to the growth of Khammam district, stated the District Collector RV Karnan here on Monday.
He said the efficient functioning of women officials helped the district secure top place in the State in terms of implementation of welfare and development works. He addressed a gathering at International Women’s Day celebrations organised by the Women and Child Welfare Department of the district.
Describing the women officials and employees as effective multi-taskers, Karnan advised that women should take proper care of their health while balancing their work and family life. If only the women were in the pink of health their families would be in good health, he stressed.
The Collector said that during ‘Mission Naari’ initiative wherein the health screening of girls and women in the age group of 14-49 years was conducted many of them were diagnosed with anaemia symptoms. Hence women should take therapeutic and nutritional care.
He further stated that Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) workers, Anganwadi workers, and Auxiliary nurse midwives (ANMs) have made commendable work during the lockdown to contain the spread of Covid-19.
Additional Collector (Local Bodies) Snehalatha Mogili also wanted the women employees and housewives to undergo regular health checkups to maintain their health in good condition.
Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Ch Priyanka noted that achieving a recognition of her own in any field of work was the paramount factor in women’s empowerment. Parents should give equal treatment to girls and boys while raising them, she suggested.
The Collector felicitated several officials and presented prizes to students who excelled in an essay writing competition. The District Welfare Officer Sandhya Rani, District Agriculture Officer Vijaya Nirmala, DM&HO Dr B Malathi and others were present.
