Khammam: District Collector RV Karnan cautioned that serious action would be taken against the officials who failed to implement the Palle Pragathi programme in an effective manner.

He along with the ZP CEO, Ch Priyanka inspected Palle Pragathi works at Acharlagudem village of Nelakondapalli mandal in the district on Monday. During his visit, the Collector found an old abandoned well at the village was not filled up as per the programme parameters.

Karnan expressing anger at the officials concerned and directed the District Panchayat Officer to issue show-cause notices to gram panchayat secretary, Dinesh, sarpanch, Sravan Kumar and NREGS Additional Programme Officer (APO), Sunitha for their alleged negligence towards their duties.

He instructed the officials to clean NSP canal at the village and take up avenue plantation on its bund. The Collector interacted with the residents at the village and told them to maintain cleanliness at their homes to stop breading of mosquitoes and spread of seasonal diseases.

The Mandal Special Officers have to observe dry day on every Tuesday and Friday to clean unused drums, pots and sumps. Every household has to dig soak pits in their houses and plant fruit yielding and flowering plants, Karnan suggested.

Additional Collector (Local Bodies), M Snehalatha, who took up a surprise inspection in Chimalapad village of Singareni mandal on the day directed the MPDO, Ramadevi to stop release of one month salary of the gram panchayat secretary, Jarpula Suresh for neglecting Palle Pragathi works.

The gram panchayat secretary was said to have failed to take up the works related to segregation shed and bio-fencing at the village Vaikunta Dhamam despite several reminders. But he had reported on the e-panchayat portal that bio-fencing works were completed.

Snehalatha directed the village officials to speed up distribution of saplings to households, avenue plantation and maintain the records in proper manner.
