Khammam: Several Congress leaders joined TRS in presence of IT Minister and TRS working president KT Rama Rao in Hyderabad on Friday. At a programme at Telangana Bhavan, Khammam Municipal Corporation Congress corporators — Motarapu Sravani (55th division), Dhanala Radha (17th Division) and Raghunathpalem mandal, Budidampadu village sarpanch Meera joined the TRS.
TRS working president along with Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar welcomed the Congress leaders into the party fold. Speaking on the occasion, the newly-joined leaders said they were impressed with Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s governance.
They also said that Rama Rao and Puvvada Ajay have been making concerted efforts for the development of Khammam and they wanted to be part of the ongoing development. They lauded the welfare schemes implemented by the Telangana government.
Rama Rao said that the Chief Minister has introduced many welfare schemes for the poor. He explained that the towns, as well as the gram panchayats and thandas, were developed. He stated that during the Congress rule, there were suicides of farmers as well as minimal facilities in the villages. After the TRS came to power, the government is providing 24X7 power supply to farmers and developed Palle Prakruthi Vanams in villages. SUDA chairman B Vijay Kumar, Mayor P Neeraja, TRS Khammam city president Pagadala Nagaraju, party district office in-charge Gundala Krishna and others were also present.
