Khammam: Festival after festival is passing by, but the wait for senior Congress leaders in the district to get nominated posts appears to have no end in the near future.

A few months ago, the party leadership set the muhurtam of Dasara for accommodating those who are aspiring for nominated posts as it could not do so by that time, later the muhurtam of Diwali was set, but nothing happened, much to the displeasure of the party leaders.

It might be noted that the party leaders Podem Veeraiah, Rayala Nageswara Rao, Naidu Satyanarayana, Muvva Vijay Babu and N Srikanth have been given nominated posts in the first round but many old timers have been left out.

Several senior leaders in the district who are yet to get nominated posts are demanding the party high command to take immediate steps to fill up vacant posts. But lack of consensus among the three Ministers in the district Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Thummala Nageswara Rao has been delaying the process of filling up vacant nominated posts.

Positions like Khammam Agricultural Market Committee chairman, District Library chairman, Stambhadri Urban Development Authority in Khammam (SUDA) are vacant. In Kothagudem positions like District Library chairman, newly formed Kothagudem Urban Development Authority chairman and Bhadrachalam Temple Trust Board chairman are vacant.

It was said that after the TPCC chief B Mahesh Kumar Goud took charge of the post, those seeking nominated posts took the matter to his notice. A list of aspirants was said to have been prepared in consultation with the local ministers; the list was submitted to the TPCC chief and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. However no decision has been taken in that connection so far.

A senior leader M Radhakishore, district Congress committee president Puvvalla Durga Prasad, city Congress president Mohammed Javed, BC cell leader V Narasimha Rao, Borra Rajashekar, V Soma Chandrashakar and others are hoping to get nominated posts.

According to sources in the party, a minister proposed to appoint Durga Prasad as the SUDA chairman but another minister opposed the decision. Interestingly, the Khammam Agricultural Market Committee chairman post remained vacant in the Agriculture Minister’s own district.

Those seeking nominated posts are putting pressure on the ministers to take a decision forthwith in filling posts without further delay as it could lead to dissent against the party leadership.
