Khammam: TRS Floor Leader in the Lok Sabha and Khammam MP, Nama Nageswar Rao has donated six ambulances worth Rs 1.23 crore towards better health services in government hospitals in Khammam. At a programme at Pragathi Bhavan in Hyderabad on Monday, IT, MA&UD Minister KT Rama Rao flagged off the vehicles after the MP formally handed over the vehicles to the government.

The IT Minister appreciated and thanked Nageswar Rao for his charitable act that would help to improve health services. He also tweeted about the donation made by the MP in his twitter handle describing the donation as a ‘kind gesture’. The MP informed that the ambulances would be handed over to the health department for use in government hospitals in erstwhile Khammam to offer immediate medical care to victims of accidents and general patients.

Ambulances were fitted with facilities like oxygen and ventilator essential to shift patients and injured persons to hospitals within the golden hour to increase the chances of their survival, he said. Assembly segments in Khammam Parliament constituency- Kothagudem, Sathupalli, Wyra, Madhira and Aswaraopet would get one ambulance each while both Khammam and Palair constituencies would get one ambulance.

It might be noted that the MP Nageswar Rao has donated the ambulances as part of ‘Gift a smile’ initiative’, which was started by IT Minister Ram Rao making his birthday on July 24 last year and the party leaders, workers and well wishers to help the poor and needy.

MP G Ranjith Reddy, MLC P Mahender Reddy, MLAs S Venakata Veeraiah, L Ramulu Naik, A Jeevan Reddy, Ch Dharma Reddy and S Saidi Reddy, Nama Muthaiah Memorial Trust representatives Nama Prudhvi and Nama Bhavaya and TRS secretary Bandi Ramesh were present.
