NDRF 10h battalion conducted a mock drill at Munneru stream in Khammam on Tuesday.
Khammam: The NDRF 10th battalion conducted a mock drill at Munneru stream here on Tuesday to create awareness among district officials on emergency rescue operations.
The members of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) demonstrated at Prakash Nagar bridge in the stream how persons affected by floods or drowning accidentally could be rescued using materials of daily use.
The team commandant Pradeep Kumar informed that a team of 27 personnel led by the NDRF 10th battalion commandant Zahid Khan have taken part in the demonstration. Rescue techniques comprising contact and non-contact rescue were exhibited practically.
He further said that there were four wings in NDRF namely, medical first responder, collapsed structure search and rescue (CSSR), swimming flood and rescue and chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear wings.
Pradeep Kumar noted that the NDRF teams would jump into action upon requests from concerned District Collectors in times of floods, cyclones and other disasters duly following the standard operating procedures (SOPs).
District Collector VP Gautham witnessed the demonstration along with Municipal Commissioner Adarsh Surabhi, Additional DCP Gaush Alam, DM&HO Dr. B Malathi and others. The Collector said the mock drill was organised to ensure preparedness of district police and district officials to address any natural or man-made disasters.
