Khammam: Over Rs 37 lakh cash, gold seized at the residence of tainted official

Khammam: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials have seized Rs 37.17 lakh cash and 30 tolas gold ornaments at the residence of Vemsoor deputy tahsildar Usikala Upender in Khammam.
It might be noted that Upender was caught red handed along with deputy surveyor, Inapala Guruveshwar Rao while accepting a bribe of Rs one lakh from a farmer, Thota Samvasiva Rao, at Vemsoor in Khammam district on Wednesday.
Following the complaints from Vemsoor farmers about alleged large scale corruption by the deputy tahsildar, a team of officials led by the ACB DSP, A Madhusudhan have conducted a search at Upender’s residence since last night.
Speaking to Telangana Today, ACB CI, SV Ramana Murthy informed that both the accused revenue officials have been taken to Hyderabad to be produced before ACB Court on Thursday. The seized money and gold would soon be submitted to the court, he added.
Meanwhile, several farmers and owners of earth movers have expressed pleasure at the arrest of the deputy tahsildar and celebrated by bursting crackers in front of Vemsoor tahsildar office. They alleged that the accused official has troubled many with his corrupt practices.
