Khammam: BRS district president Tata Madhusudhan has strongly condemned the arrest of BRS Chintakani mandal president Pentyala Pullaiah by police on Thursday.

He described the arrest of the BRS leader as undemocratic and politically motivated. The arrest was aimed at threatening the BRS workers.

It was sad that the police arrested a man who was in Ayyappa deeksha and without stating any reason, he said, demanding the immediate release of Pullaiah, warning that serious protests would be staged if the BRS leader was not released.

It is learned that police personnel in civil dress reached Pullaiah’s home and forcibly took him away. They refused to state any reasons for the arrest even when the family members sought to know why he was being taken away.

The family members, including women and Pullaiah’s wife Bharatamma, tried to prevent the police, with Bharatamma being injured in the scuffle that followed. She was admitted to hospital later.
