Khammam police book cases against political leaders, activists for collectorate protests
Raghunadhapalem police registered cases against leaders of CPI, ANMs Association, MRPS, and other organisations for staging protests and dharnas at the Khammam district collectorate without prior permission. Authorities warned that dharnas must be held at the designated Dharna Chowk
Khammam: Raghunadhapalem police have booked cases against leaders of various political parties, people’s organisations and trade unions for staging protests at the district collectorate here on Monday.
It might be noted that CPI Rythu Sangham, Telangana State Second ANMs Association (AITUC) and Pensioners’ and Disabled Persons’ Rights Struggle Committee activists took out protest rallies to the collectorate and staged dharnas in the day.
In a statement, Raghunathapalem Inspector of Police Osman Sharif said that AITUC, ANM activists Thota Ramanjaneyulu and Gade Lakshminarayana, CPI party members Bhagam Hanumantha Rao and Dandi Suresh, MRPS activists Thuruganti Anjaiah and Kurapati Sunil and others gathered at the main gate of the district collectorate without taking any prior permission from authorities concerned.
Thus they caused inconvenience to the people and disrupted vehicle movements besides disrupting traffic on the National Highway from Khammam to Sathupalli. Cases were registered against the individuals and an investigation has been initiated.
Dharnas should be held only at the Dharna Chowk. If anyone obstructs the duties of the people and officials in front of the collectorate gate, legal action would be taken against them, he warned.
