Khammam: Commissioner of Police Sunil Dutt said that 15 check posts have been set up at State and district borders to control illegal sand transportation from Andhra Pradesh.

The check posts would be monitored constantly to fully stop illegal sand transportation in coordination with the police, mining and other departments. CCTV cameras were being set up at the check posts, which would work 24 hours in 3 shifts in a day, he said.

Vehicles transporting sand from Andhra Pradesh would be confiscated besides registering cases against them. Special branch officers along with patrolling police should collect information and maintain surveillance on illegal sand transportation, the CP suggested.
