Officials seized 60 tonnes of sand worth Rs 1.2 lakh

Commissioner of Police Sunil Dutt said that sand mining should be carried out by paying royalty fees in the areas specified as per government rules

Residents of Nadigadda have been complaining to the officials over illegal sand mining and transportation from River Dundhdhubhi. They have been saying that people from faroff places were loading sand from the riverbed and transporting it to other places

While the fine on tractors was enhanced to Rs.25,000 from Rs 5,000, the fine on lorries was hiked to Rs.1 lakh from Rs.50,000.
