Khammam: Chakali SC Sadhana Samithi State president Kothakonda Srilakshmi called upon the community members to intensify the movement seeking to include the Rajaka community in the Scheduled Castes list (SCs). Speaking to media persons here on Tuesday, she suggested setting up of full-fledged committees in five Assembly constituencies in Khammam district and in Khammam city as well to fight for the cause. She said that a resolution was passed at a meeting in Hyderabad on November 14 that the Samithi committees have to be set up in all 119 Assembly segments and 19 Parliament segments to take forward the movement.
Khammam constituency has about 15,000 Rajaka community votes and those who support SC reservation for Rajakas would have the community’s support in coming elections. The same approach would be adopted in 119 constituencies in the forthcoming elections, Srilakshmi said. She wanted Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to pass a resolution in the State Assembly and send it to Parliament seeking the Centre to include Chakali caste in SCs list.
The budget of Rs 450 crore which the State government allotted for Chakali community should be spent for community development by setting up an executive body for Washermen Federation. Every family should be given financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh, she demanded. The Samithi district president Dumpati Nagesh, state vice president Sattu Venkateshwar, state women general secretary Padigela Krishnaveni, city leaders B Kanakayya, Pagilla Pallisatyanarayana, Regalla Ramu and others were present.
