Khammam: Police arrested a married woman and her paramour for stealing gold and silver ornaments from her husband’s house at Karepally in Khammam district and recovered jewellery and a laptop computer worth Rs 63 lakh from their possession.
Giving details of the case to the media persons here on Monday, Commissioner of Police (CP), Vishnu S Warrier informed that the theft took place on the night of May 4 at the residence of a pawn broker, Sivaprakash Darak.
Based on his complaint, Khammam CCS and Karepally police took up investigation and examined the CCTV footage and employed other technology to crack the case. During the investigation the police suspected the role of Sivaprakash’s wife, Archana Darak and questioned her.
She confessed to the police that with the help of her paramour, Bathula Venkata Krishna Prasad, a mason worker and native of Gannavaram village of Macherla mandal in Guntur district in AP, she had stolen the jewellery.
Archana married Sivaprakash in 2008 and had three children with him. Following some matrimonial disputes she was living separately at her mother’s place at Guntur and was maintaining an illegal affair with Prasad for the past one and half year.
She came to Karepally one month back after her husband’s mother expired. She decided to leave her husband and planned to walk away with jewellery from her husband’s house. Following her plan, Prasad came to Karepally on May 3 and stayed at the local railway station. And on the night of May 4, Archana took away all the gold and silver ornaments from the locker at the house and handed them over to Prasad directing him to sell the jewellery and keep the cash ready.
Police recovered around 1224.89 grams of gold and 2340 grams of silver ornaments from the accused. The CP appreciated the CCS Inspectors of Police, P Naveen and E Srinivas, Karepally CI, Srinivas, SI, Suresh, constables, K Srinivas, B Mangithya and M Gajendra for their efforts in cracking the case.
