Khammam: An ultra-modern cardiac catheterisation laboratory (Cath lab) was being established at Khammam Government District Hospital. The new facility is expected to be inaugurated by Finance and Health Minister T Harish Rao in a few days.
The Cath lab was being set up with a cost of Rs 20 crore at the District Hospital’s emergency wing. The Cath lab, emergency care centre and trauma care centre were all integrated under one roof here.
District Collector VP Gautham inspected the works at the hospital on Monday. He along with the DM&HO Dr B Malathi also inspected the works of cardiac ICU ward, stunting and angiogram equipment. He directed the medical and health officials to complete recruitment of technicians and staff nurses for the cardiac wing before inauguration.
Gautham said that it was decided to set up all emergency wings in one building and there should be a separate entrance and way for the wing on the hospital premises. He later inspected Covid-19 ward and suggested increasing the number of doctors in the out-patient wing.
Speaking at Covid-19 Core Committee later in the day, the Collector wanted the health officials to take steps to establish quarantine centres at Sharada Engineering College and ITDA YTC building in Khammam.
He noted that though the number of Covid cases was on the rise, in-patient admissions were less in the hospitals. Yet the medical and health officials should be ready with required beds, injections and oxygen supply.
