Adilabad: In-charge Superintendent of Police M Rajesh Chandra said that steps were taken to ensure justice to the family of the victim of Thatiguda firing incident and to prove the guilt of the offender before a special fast track court, with the help of scientific evidence.

Rajesh earlier attended proceedings of a fast-track court which was hearing the sensational case of killing of a person and injuring two others by former municipal vice chairperson Farooq Ahmed on December 18 last. Ahmed was already booked for abusing his licensed weapon and was arrested.

The superintendent of police, speaking to the media, said the accused was filing petitions in courts trying to delay the trial. However, the prosecution was giving strong counters with a sole objective of doing justice to the victim. He said that there were eyewitnesses and investigating officials gathered scientific evidence to establish the role of the accused.

The IPS officer informed that the scientific evidence video clip was sent to the forensic lab for verifying its veracity. He stated that eyewitnesses were being produced before the court as part of the trial which began on September 26. He further stated that a plea to transfer the case to another court, made by the prime accused, was pending.

Syed Zameer (62), one of the injured and former municipal councillor, succumbed to wounds while undergoing treatment in a hospital of Hyderabad December 26. Syed Mannan and Motheshan were recovered. The three sustained injuries when Farooq indiscriminately opened firing against them and attacked them with a knife in full public view following a tiff over a cricket match.
