Nizamabad: Nizamsagar project has been receiving constant inflows from Kaleshwaram project. The project has been receiving 593 cusecs of water every day. Nizamsagar will soon regain its charm by reaching FRL level and provide irrigation water to 2.31 lakh acres in erstwhile Nizamabad district.

With the efforts of the Telangana government and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, Nizamsagar project will obtain its sheen and provide irrigation water to Kamareddy and Nizamabad districts. Nizamsagar project has 2.31 lakh acres ayacut in erstwhile Nizamabad district, but due to minimum water levels it has been providing irrigation water to over 1.5 lakh acres.

However, the project has been receiving constant inflows from Kaleshwaram through Konda Pochamma Sagar project.

Telangana government planned to restore the Nizamsagar project through Mallanna sagar project, but due to slow progress of Mallanna Sagar works, water was temporarily released from Konda Pochamma Sagar project through Haldi Vagu stream.

According to Nizamsagar AE Shiva Prasad, the project has been receiving 593 cusecs per day. Out of 1,405 ft capacity, the project now has 1,394.53 ft water level. Out of 17.802 tmc storage capacity, the project now has 6.522 tmc of water.

Erstwhile Nizamabad farmers expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for providing irrigation water to their agricultural lands through Kaleshwaram. Hasanpally and Magdumpur village farmers of Nizamsagar mandal poured milk on the Chief Minister’s portrait to express gratitude.
