Kothagudem: Displaying the true spirit of Ramadan, a corporator of Kothagudem Municipal Corporation (KMC) honoured sanitation workers, Anganwadi teachers and helpers.
Marking Eid-ul-Fitr on Saturday, the 58th municipal division corporator Mohammed Dawood organised a special event at his residence in Hanuman Basti. He, along with his wife Tanveer Sultana, presented new clothes at his own expense to four Anganwadi teachers and four helpers, as well as nine sanitation workers serving in the division.
The guests were later served the Ramadan delicacy Sheer Khurma. Speaking on the occasion, Dawood said Ramadan was a sacred festival celebrated beyond the boundaries of caste and religion, with humanity as its ultimate essence.
The corporator said he wanted to recognise and honour the selfless service of municipal workers, who toil tirelessly day and night to keep the city clean, as well as Anganwadi teachers and helpers who play a vital role in the care and upbringing of young children.
Extending their wishes to the couple, the guests felicitated them. Dawood also wanted the sanitation workers and Anganwadi teachers to play their part in the 12-day outreach initiative, 99-day Praja Palana-Pragathi Pranalika.
