Hyderabad: Former BRS MLA from Vikarabad Patnam Narender Reddy, was taken into custody by Vikarabad police in connection with the attack on government officials at Lagacherla village of Kodangal two days ago.
The Vikarabad Collector Prateek Jain, Kodangal Area Development Authority Chairman, Venkat Reddy and other officials had visited the village to seek opinion for land acquisition from public for setting a pharma company when the villagers became unruly attacked the officials.
The police alleged a man Suresh, who is a follower of the MLA Narender Reddy, instigated the villagers allegedly at the instance of the MLA.
The police took into custody the MLA at Jubilee Hills and are shifting him to Vikarabad. Three cases were registered in connection with the violence at Lagacherla. The police had arrested 16 farmers on Tuesday and remanded them.
