Sangareddy: Beneficiaries of the 2-BHK housing colony at Kollur were left shocked after receiving a collective water bill of Rs.2.39 crore from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) for the last 11 months, starting October 2024.
The residents alleged that they were charged even before occupying the houses and demanded the government waive the bill, saying they cannot afford to pay such an amount. Nearly 8,000 families are currently living in the colony.
BRS leader Balagoni Sai Charan Goud said the houses were occupied only eight months ago, yet the board billed them for 11 months. He further alleged that HMWSSB had raised bills before installing water meters. He urged the government to waive the entire bill considering the poor economic condition of the residents.
