Hyderabad: Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy on Saturday once again launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for claiming that he would continue as Chief Minister in the next term, questioning how such assertions could be made.
“Is this Revanth Reddy Congress or Rahul Gandhi Congress? This is a humiliation to the Congress high command and the entire Congress leadership. Revanth Reddy is speaking with arrogance and I will not accept this,” Rajgopal Reddy said while interacting with a vernacular YouTube channel.
The Munugode MLA also faulted Cabinet Ministers, the TPCC president and the AICC General Secretary for failing to respond to the Chief Minister’s claims.
“As a result, the Congress party is growing weak in the State. There is talk that Revanth Reddy claims he is funding the Congress high command. Due to his repeated claims, the hardcore Congress cadre is unhappy,” Rajgopal Reddy said.
He remarked that Revanth Reddy became Chief Minister after Congress leaders and workers put in considerable effort to bring the party to power in the State, and not by default.
The Congress party, he said, follows established practices in selecting a Chief Minister. Since former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, no senior Congress leader has claimed that they would continue as Prime Minister or Chief Minister, he stressed.
Referring to the popular saying Vinaashkale Vipreet Buddhi, when doom approaches, wisdom departs, the Munugode MLA said Revanth Reddy’s statements reflected arrogance.
Stating that Telangana’s welfare and development were his top priority, Rajgopal Reddy said, “For the last two years under the Congress government, Andhra investors and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s close aides from the Telugu Desam are calling the shots. Loyal Congress leaders and workers have lost their significance.”
Referring to BRS turncoat MLAs Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and Kadiyam Srihari, and Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy, he said loyal Congress leaders and workers were unhappy with the party and the government.
“For the last two years, the original Congress leaders have been struggling and are in crisis. Is this TDP Congress or Rahul Gandhi Congress?” Rajgopal Reddy asked.
This is not the first time Rajgopal Reddy has taken a critical view of the Chief Minister’s claims. In July last year, the Munugode MLA took to X and raised objections to similar statements made by the Chief Minister.
When asked about his own earlier remarks that he would become Chief Minister, Rajgopal Reddy clarified that he was merely responding to slogans raised by his supporters at a victory rally.
