Warangal: In a veiled attack on Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari, former MLC Konda Murali, who is also Forest Minister Konda Surekha’s husband, on Thursday accused Srihari of ruining the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in the past and backstabbing BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao.
Murali alleged that Srihari, who served as a Minister both under N Chandrababu Naidu and Chandrashekhar Rao, had deceived both leaders and was now with the Congress.
“No one knows his next move. He was known as an encounter specialist,” Murali said, addressing party workers in the Warangal East constituency.
Taking aim at defected MLAs who joined the Congress, Murali challenged them to resign and recontest. “If they believe they command respect, they should resign and face the people again,” he said.
The former MLC also took a swipe at Parkal MLA R Prakash Reddy, claiming the latter had pleaded with the Konda family during the Assembly elections, saying it was his last contest and that the Parkal ticket would be given to them next time.
“In the next elections, my daughter Konda Sushmitha Patel will contest from Parkal,” Murali declared, adding that he would be offered a nominated post. “My role will be to ensure the victory of ZPTC, MPTC members and corporators by distributing money and securing votes,” he said in a video that is now going viral on social media.
Dismissing speculation that Surekha might be dropped from the Cabinet, Murali asserted that she would continue as a Minister.
He also objected to the Warangal police issuing memos to officers who had allegedly extended unauthorised escort to him recently.
“There are coverts in the police department. I appeal to the Warangal Police Commissioner to focus on them and take appropriate action,” he said.
