Hyderabad: After realising that her comments triggered a political storm, Forest Minister Konda Surekha charged that her statements were deliberately distorted by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

The Forest Minister, while addressing a programme in Warangal on Thursday, had said that generally, Ministers clear files after accepting money from different companies.

“Since I am a Forest Minister, I too get a few files for clearance from companies. I said to the company representatives that they do not have to pay any money but take up some social service like school development,” Konda Surekha said in a video, which is going viral on social media platforms.

However, these comments have triggered a political storm in the State and the Minister issued a statement on Friday morning.

“My statements are intended towards the Ministers in the past government, as they demanded money from companies. I stick to these statements,” Konda Surekha said in the statement.

The Forest Minister further charged that BRS had distorted her statements. “The Congress government is delivering governance transparently. Unable to stomach the good work, the BRS is conducting false campaigns on social media,” she maintained.

Attempts were being made to create a rift among the cabinet Ministers by distorting the statements. Such cheap efforts would not be tolerated, the Forest Minister added.
