Hyderabad: Forest and Endowments Minister Konda Surekha met All India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan and Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud on Thursday to discuss the fallout from the dramatic police action at her residence on Wednesday night.
Speaking to media after the meeting, Surekha said she was assured of complete support from the party leadership. “Both Meenakshi Natarajan and Goud said they will try to work out a solution for the entire issue,” she said.
Earlier in the day, the AICC in-charge had spoken to the Minister over the phone and summoned her for a close-door discussion. Surekha attended the meeting along with her daughter, Konda Sushmitha.
During the three-hour session, the Minister is reported to have discussed several issues, including the current state of affairs in both the party and government. “We have discussed all aspects at length. They assured to settle the matter amicably and now I am leaving the entire responsibility on them,” she said.
There had been uncertainty over Surekha’s participation in the Cabinet meeting at the Secretariat. She eventually skipped the session to meet the AICC in-charge and the TPCC president.
Speaking to media before the meeting, Mahesh Kumar Goud said that Surekha’s concerns had been brought to the notice of the AICC in-charge. “There is some communication gap in the entire episode and all things will be sorted out,” he said.
The meeting comes amid continuing political tension following the police attempt to arrest Surekha’s Officer on Special Duty (OSD) N Sumanth, an incident that had drawn significant attention to factional rivalries within the Telangana Congress.
