Kothagudem: District Collector Jitesh V Patil gave a practical demonstration on the method of boneless fish cutting to local fish traders and fishermen at his camp office on Tuesday.
The Collector said that by making fish boneless, their market value could increase. By learning the method, fishermen, tribal communities and families dependent on fish farming and SHG women could increase their income, he noted.
Patil explained that boneless fish pieces could be easily eaten by children and adults and have the potential to provide nutrition. Various dishes like fish tikka could be prepared using boneless fish pieces adding new value to fish besides making it possible to offer new flavours to the people.
Also, a nutritious and delicious soup with fish head and other parts could help district residents maintain good health. By using the remaining waste as fertilizer, additional income could be earned along with environmental protection, he said.
The Collector asked the authorities to take steps to promote boneless fish cutting across the district and ensure that more families benefit from it.
