Kothagudem: The CPI (Maoist) Central Committee appealed to the world trade unions, progressive-democratic forces and human rights organisations to stage agitations for the release of a veteran Communist leader Abhiman Guzman alias Gonzalo.
In a statement here on Thursday, the Central Committee spokesperson Abhay said Gonzalo, a veteran leader of Peru Communist Party, was arrested 29 years ago by comprador government of Peru in collision with American imperialists.
He was kept in a high security prison, subjected to psychological torture for the last 29 years and denied medical treatment and other basic facilities to him. It was well known fact that Gonzalo stood against imperialists, fought for oppressed people of Peru and led the revolutionary movement of Peru, he said.
