Kothagudem: The CPI (Maoist) Central Committee Spokesperson Abhay has condoled the death of senior communist leader Kakarala Suryakantam (81) who passed away recently in Hyderabad following heart ailment.

In a statement released to the media here on Thursday, Abhay said Suryakantam despite several hardships had always supported the revolutionary movement along with her husband Kakarala Veera Venkata Satyanarayana, a veteran film actor and activist.

He said Satyanarayana, a disciple of noted cinema artist, late Garikapati Raja Rao, and Suryakantam actively participated in revolutionary politics. The couple encouraged their two daughters to take the path of Communist revolutionary movement.

An unnamed note by the daughters of the couple attached with the statement said: “Our mother was a loving personality and was influenced by Srikakulam peasant uprising. There are no words to describe her sacrifice as she allowed us to join the revolutionary movement.”
