Maoist area committee member surrenders before Kothagudem police

A CPI (Maoist) area committee member from South Bastar surrendered before Kothagudem police under Operation Cheyutha. Police said 359 Maoist cadres have surrendered since January 2025 and are availing rehabilitation benefits provided by the Telangana government.

Kothagudem: The CPI (Maoist) area committee member (South Bastar DVC supplying team) Thati Muka alias Chute surrendered before Kothagudem police.

He surrendered under the ‘Operation Cheyutha’ programme being conducted by the district police along with the CRPF 81 and 141 Battalions. He came to know about the facilities and rehabilitation being provided by the Telangana government and decided to renounce Naxalism to lead a peaceful life with his family members, Superintendent of Police B Rohith Raju said.


Through the ‘Operation Cheyutha’ from January 2025 till date, as many as 359 Maoist cadres, including the above individual, have surrendered to join mainstream society and are availing rehabilitation benefits, he said.

The surrendered Maoists include one SCM, seven DVCMs, 34 ACMs, 61 party members, 122 militia members, 35 RPC members, 47 DAKMs/KAMs members, 31 CNM members and 21 GRD members, the SP noted.

Thati Muka of Gommuguda village under Pamed police station limits in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh was provided immediate assistance of Rs. 25,000. The Telangana government and the Police Department are striving for the development and welfare of tribal communities, he added.
