A goat was killed by a tiger in the forests of Dammapet in Kothagudem district on Wednesday.
Kothagudem: A tiger on the prowl has killed a goat in the forests at Pedda Gollagudem village of Dammapet mandal in the district during late evening hours of Wednesday.
According to the forest officials the incident occurred when a shepherd was returning home along with a herd of goats and sheep of a farmer N Srinivas Rao. The incident caused panic among the villagers.
Dammapet Forest Range Officer Srinivas Rao speaking to reporters said the villagers were cautioned against going into the forests and not to cause any harm to the big cat. The forest department would pay proper compensation for the cattle killed by the tiger. It might be noted that last week the big cat was spotted at different places in Sathupalli forest range in Khammam district. Its pug marks were found in Chandrayapalem forests and it was captured by a camera trap installed in the forests in the forest range.
