Kothagudem: A youth from Manugur in the district drowned in river Godavari at Bhadrachalam on Saturday.

According to the police, the deceased, M Suresh Kumar (28), came to Bhadrachalam along with family members to perform ‘Pinda Pradanam’ for a departed soul in their family. After the rituals he went to the river to take a bath and drowned.

Locals who noticed Kumar drowning tried to save him but in vain. The local police booked a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
