Hyderabad: KPHB Basketball Club defeated Rising Stars Hyderabad 77-56 to enter the Level 2 by topping Group H in the Annual League Basketball Championship of the Hyderabad District Basketball Association.
Supervek finished second best in group G with their second win at the expense of RR Club at 67-47 and will have to go through the qualifying round to find a place in Level 2.
Sai Kumar heroics went in vain for his side Rising Stars Hyderabad who completed their campaign with a win against 2 losses. Sai Kumar sank in 8 three pointers in his individual score of 28 and with Ashwin chipping in with 11 points, the loser trailed 35-49 before going down 56-77 to a superior KPHB team led by Sai Krishna and Arvind who scored 19 and 17 respectively.
Requiring a win to stay in contention of entering the next level, Supervek had the upper hand right through in their 67-47 win against RR Club, being ahead 44-32 at halftime. The speedy Peter and Sam showed good skills in the second quarter. Meanwhile, the Level 2 of the League Championship will kick start at the Loyola Academy College grounds in Alwal from Sep 29 with 10 teams (Sanathnagar Playground, Secunderabad YMCA, Secunderabad Club, Victory Playground, Eagles, Nizam Basketball Academy, Saints, Airborne Basketball Club, Loyola Academy and Young Mens Guild) vying with 4 group toppers and 2 other qualifiers from level 3. KPHB Basketball Club, G 9 and Keystone Basketball Academy have topped their groups while the winner of the last robin match between HMT and Hyderabad Rovers will decide the fourth direct qualifier.
