Hyderabad: The Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) will convene its 20th meeting on June 27 to discuss critical water-sharing concerns between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, as both States prepare for the upcoming Kharif season.
The special session, announced by the KRMB, is expected to focus on equitable distribution of Krishna River waters, a longstanding dispute between the two Telugu States since the bifurcation of the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh in 2014.
Sources said the board will deliberate on water releases from major reservoirs such as Srisailam and Nagarjuna Sagar. It will also address operational disputes related to project management and hydel power generation.
In addition to this, the board is expected to take up discussions on a Telangana High Court judgement concerning incentives to irrigation department employees from the State. The KRMB’s workforce comprises personnel drawn from the irrigation departments of both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, along with officials from the central pool.
