Hyderabad: Telangana BJP State president Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Friday launched a blistering attack on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy for constructing irrigation projects on Krishna River, against the interests of the people of Telangana.

He took strong exception to Jagan’s remarks saying: “We are taking our water. What is wrong with it?” Addressing party workers after participating in a bike rally in Kollapur, he said AP was constructing a project near Sangameshwara on Krishna River to lift water from it.

A conspiracy was hatched to lift nine TMC of water every day from the project and take it to AP through Pothireddypadu Head Regulator. “If the project is completed, we will not get a single drop of water,” he said adding that the chances of erstwhile Rangareddy, Mahabubnagar and Nalgonda districts becoming barren are more.

Even Hyderabad will face drinking water problems, Sanjay said, stating that 50 per cent works of the project were already completed. He said the BJP would construct a spacious temple of goddess Sri Bhagyalakshmi abutting the historic Charminar and install the towering statue of Dr BR Ambedkar in the city.

Sanjay said the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has sanctioned Rs 1,200 crore for the highway project and construction of the Somasila-Siddeswaram bridge. Once the project was completed, it would reduce travel distance to Tirupati by at least 80 km, he added.
