Hyderabad: It took 1,054 hours of work to make the heavenly Chanel Haute Couture dress that Kristen Stewart wears as Princess Diana in the new ‘Spencer’ poster. Apparently, 700 hours were spent on the embroidery alone!
Right after the new poster was released on August 25, 2021, the dress that Kristen Stewart wears to embody England’s favourite princess has been the talk of Hollywood. The poster features a grieving Princess Diana seen from behind, with her face hidden.
As per ‘Vogue Paris’, Chanel recreated a Spring/Summer 1988 Haute Couture show gown for Kristen. The dress is an evening gown in beige organza, enhanced with gold and silver sequins which form fine floral branches. With a whalebone bustier, the neckline is bordered by a delicately pleated tulle flounce highlighted with sequins and a satin band. A satin bow encircles the dress on the front while the skirt is fitted to the hip before its full length unfolds, with thousands of ruffles and gathers.
‘Spencer’, Chilean filmmaker Pablo Larraín’s much-awaited biopic, premieres at the Venice Film Festival and will hit the theatres on November 5. The film is set over the course of a weekend in December 1991 when Princess Diana joined the royal family for Christmas as the Sandringham Estate and decided to leave her troubled marriage.
“‘Spencer’ is a dive inside an emotional imagining of who Diana was at a pivotal turning point in her life. It is a physical assertion of the sum of her parts, which starts with her given name: Spencer. It is a harrowing effort for her to return to herself, as Diana strives to hold on to what the name Spencer means to her,” Kristen previously shared about her character, according to ‘People’.
