Right after the first poster from Kristen Stewart’s Princess Diana biopic ‘Spencer’ was released, netizens couldn’t stop comparing it to Jennifer Lawrence’s fall at the Oscars. When Lawrence won the Best Actress award at the 2013 Oscars, she tripped over her dress and fell on the stairs before she could get to the stage. The dress Lawrence was wearing and her posture in the photos look quite similar to Stewart’s.
As per ‘The Guardian’, the poster appears to show Stewart bent double and weeping into a vast white gown, likely to be a version of the “Diaghilev” gown Diana Spencer wore on occasions such as a visit to the Royal Opera House and the film premiere of ‘The Living Daylights’. It was designed by David and Elizabeth Emanuel, who also created her wedding dress.
“Kristen Stewart in Jennifer Lawrence biopic, YESSSS!!! (sic),” tweeted a fan. “i can’t unsee it #Spencer #KristenStewart #JenniferLawrence #Oscars #KStew in #PabloLarrain ‘s Spencer photo #JLaw winning Best Actress at the Oscars (sic),” added another fan.
On the other hand, fans of K-Stew are positive that she will deliver a wonderful performance as Diana. A film critic from Los Angeles, Scott Menzel, couldn’t stop praising Stewart. “I just saw the teaser trailer for #Spencer & a 5-minute clip from the film. Based on the footage, it looks like Kristen Stewart will be getting an Oscar nomination for her performance as Diana. I’m feeling very confident that this is going to be #KristenStewart’s big moment (sic),” he tweeted.
‘Spencer’ gives people an inside look into the life of Diana, Princess of Wales. The film is being directed by Pablo Larrain and will hit the big screens on November 5. It is due to premiere at the Venice film festival the coming week.
