Hyderabad: IT Minister KT Rama Rao has yet again appealed to the Centre to sanction Information Technology and Investment Region (ITIR), more electronic manufacturing clusters and Indian Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) for Hyderabad.
Addressing at the inaugural session of 24th National Conference on e-governance here on Friday, the Minister said Hyderabad was a progressive city and had all infrastructure for further increasing the exports of IT and ITES.
In 2012-13, the ITIR was granted to Hyderabad but unfortunately the scheme has been scrapped by the Central government. In 2013-14, IT and ITES exports were Rs.57,000 crore and it increased to Rs.1.45 lakh crore till June 2020, he said
“Considering these achievements and efforts of Telangana Government to further advance in the sector, we request you to have a relook at the ITIR policy,” said Rama Rao to Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Science and Technology, Jitendra Singh, who also participated in the inaugural session.
The State IT Minister also made two more requests to the Central Government through the Union Minister.
Citing the two electronics manufacturing clusters in city had already reached to the full capacity, Rama Rao urged the Centre to sanction more electronics manufacturing clusters for Hyderabad.
Starting that Hyderabad was a aerospace and defence hub, he said 30 percent of the components for the Mars Mission were contributed by MSMEs in Hyderabad.
The Centre has sanctioned Indian Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (INSPACe) for Bengaluru and Ahmedabad, he said and appealed to Jitendra Singh to sanction INSPACe for Hyderabad as well.
The Union Minister while addressing the gathering said he had noted down all the requests by the IT Minister.
“Since the Central government is in unlocking of Indian space sector, including inviting private sector. More Centres are being set up and Hyderabad is definitely among the probables in the queue. We will work on it,” said Jitendra Singh.
