Hyderabad: Labeling both the Congress and BJP as “enemies of Telangana”, BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Sunday said both were making false promises and failing to deliver tangible results. He urged the people of Telangana to remain vigilant against misleading claims and to support leadership that prioritised the State’s progress and prosperity.

Welcoming leaders from various political parties in the Attapur division of Rajendranagar constituency who joined the BRS at Telangana Bhavan, he highlighted the transformative initiatives undertaken by the previous BRS government, including flagship programmes like Rythu Bandhu. He emphasized how these schemes had positively impacted the lives of farmers, students and marginalised communities, reinforcing the party’s dedication to inclusive growth.

While acknowledging the contributions of former Chief Ministers like YS Rajasekhara Reddy and N Chandrababu Naidu in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, Rama Rao criticised the current Congress leadership under A Revanth Reddy for attempting to disrupt the progress initiated by the previous BRS government. He noted that unlike BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who continued beneficial programmes like Aarogyasri and fee reimbursement introduced by Rajasekhara Reddy, the Congress government had failed to sustain or build upon such initiatives.

Rama Rao also questioned the contributions of the eight BJP MPs elected from Telangana, accusing BJP leaders of relying on divisive rhetoric and failing to deliver meaningful development for the State. He stated that their campaigns often focused on slogans hailing Narendra Modi while neglecting the needs of the people.

Criticising the Congress further, Rama Rao pointed out that the party had promised to fulfill its assurances within the first 100 days of coming to power. However, even after 500 days, little progress had been made, apart from the introduction of free bus services. On a lighter vein, he quipped that the new deadline for implementing Congress promises might as well be February 31.

He urged BRS leaders and supporters to actively participate in the party’s Silver Jubilee meeting scheduled for April 27 in Warangal. He encouraged functionaries to avoid using cars and instead travel with party members in buses to demonstrate solidarity and unity.
